In 2013, I invited a small group of dear sista-friends for a monthly Prosperity Circle, a time when we could connect about financial literacy and increase our prosperity consciousness with accountability. There we were, 4 Black women learning, growing and dreaming. Part of our consciousness work was to habituate giving freely—no matter what. We believed that giving must be done consciously and joyfully, so as to spread your goodness out beyond your own energy field. And that this would bless the life of both the giver and the receiver. 

 

We began to give only a few dollars (like $5 each!) to random non-profits shared in “O Magazine” just to be in the habit of giving. Looking back, there were times that we “felt” that $5...it could get that rough for some of us at times. But we didn’t stop...we kept cultivating our prosperity consciousness, doing activities around money, reading books, and doing what was often very uncomfortable: talking about money. Over time, the amounts grew substantially, into the hundreds for some of us.

 

One evening, about 9 months in, I shared THIS. Yes, THIS, what you are seeing right now. As we were sharing our dreams, I declared, “I just wanna be a blessing.”  At that moment, I felt my body tingle—that Spirit-filled tingle—then I knew...THIS would really happen. I had no idea how or when, but that didn’t matter.

 

I declared and vowed that one day I would start a nonprofit that was very basic and simple: be a financial blessing to others no matter how small (ie: single-mother self-care treat) or large (ie: materials or scholarship for a program) and not make giving and receiving complicated. If the non-profit had it, we could potentially give it. If the person had a need, we could potentially fill it.

 

Since 2013, I have affirmed daily in my morning ritual time without fail, “May I be a blessing to others and may others be a blessing to me. May my husband and I be of paramount blessing to each other. May I be blessed to be a blessing.”  (I added the husband part in 2017 😉)

 

So, what exactly is THIS? “THIS” is an official non-profit called “I Just Wanna Be A Blessing” established in March 2021. It is simply a portal to give and receive freely. This website—serving as the official non-profit is not complicated, rooted in the good-will of giving and the reciprocity of Universal Law.
